Make Your Own Bronzer
I heard an interesting comment the other day about using make-up to add some color to your cheeks. I was told . . . .
Older women think “Blush”. Younger women think “Bronzer”
True? Yeah, I think I could agree with that. Bronzer is the newer choice and younger women will most likely choose a bronzer before they choose a blush.
In the winters months, I still prefer blush. Maybe I’m old, but oh well. In the summer however, I do like to wear bronzer for the sun-kissed glow it adds to my face.
If you like to wear bronzer too, here’s a way you can stir together an inexpensive Make Your Own version with natural ingredients from your kitchen with a little bit of essential oil mixed in.
Here’s how to do it:
HOMEMADE BRONZER
Recipe from Times of India
You Will Need:
-
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
-
2 teaspoons cornstarch
-
15 drops of essential oil (optional)
Mix together the cinnamon, nutmeg ,cocoa powder, and cornstarch. Stir in the essential oil if using. Store in a small container with a lid.
To use: Brush on cheeks, forehead, and/or chin to add color to your face.
The original recipe said the cinnamon added “glow”, the cocoa powder added “depth and darkness” and the nutmeg added a “sunkissed brown”. The essential oil was said to help in the binding of the ingredients so I decided to use that too. I pondered for a while what scent would mingle nicely with the cinnamon and nutmeg and finally decided on Orange Essential Oil . It was a good choice.
Even with the essential oil, this is still a very loose mixture and is a little bit messy to use. But it does add a bit of warm color to your face and can be made for pennies.
You may also find that if your beloved comes up and gives you a kiss on the cheek while you’re wearing your new bronzer, he will probably walk away mumbling something like “mmmmmmm, pie.”
“mmmmmmm, pie.”
LOL
Perfect! I rarely wear makeup these days, but when I do, I had to use my ancient stash. Then I discovered how to make my own. I like this recipe better than my usual light schmear of old lipstick.
On the same note, I use just cocoa and cornstarch for powder and/or base.
Oh, i like this one! Not only practical and money-saving, but not unhealthy as well.
Thanks! 🙂
