2018 Free Printable Planner Pages

For the last couple of years I’ve been putting a little more effort into the habit of using a planner so that (hopefully) I’ll be better at remembering (and then doing) the most important tasks of the day first, instead of frittering my time away with less important things.  Of course, true to my usual fashion, after a couple years of using a planner I started to think, “Hey, I bet you can just make your own planner!”

So I’m preparing for the upcoming year by doing just that.  I’ve made myself some printable planner pages and I’m going to give my homemade planner a try.  After making my pages, I thought they might be helpful to others too, so I decided to share them with all of you.

Make your own weekly planner with these free printable pages for 2017 - Half size pages that work perfectly in a junior size Arc notebook system

Making Printable Planner Pages:  My Wish List

One of the attractive things about making your own planner is that you can customize it to your own needs.  For me that meant keeping things clean and simple and getting rid of lots of the extra pages that I don’t use.  I also felt that making my own planner should save me money. Here’s a quick list of some of the things I wanted from my homemade planner pages:

Smaller Size – Made by cutting a normal 8.5″ x 11″ size piece of paper in half
Conserve printer ink – No dark colors or excess graphics or pictures
Weekly format – My favorite way to organize my time
Quarterly Colors – Because I always think of the year in quarters and seasons
Clean and simple – I get visually overwhelmed quickly
Light colors – Nicer for printing pages back-to-back (and again, saves on printer ink)
Vertical columns – My favorite format for writing lists
Meal Plan – A place to quickly jot down the day’s meal plan by my daily to-do list
Take pages in and out as needed – which is why I chose these supplies for an Arc notebook

So after reading this list you can probably see I’m a very practical sort of person.  I don’t like things to be complicated or wasteful.

Does this sound like you too?  If it does, then I hope you’ll find these homemade printable planner pages to be a fresh and frugal alternative so you can make your own planner without a lot of cost or fuss.

A Few More Notes

  • These pages are designed to be printed on standard sized 8.5 x 11 printer paper and then cut in half. I will note by each of the designs below where they are intended to be punched.
  • As mentioned above, I always think of the year in quarterly seasons (Winter: Dec, Jan, Feb | Spring: Mar, Apr, May | Summer: June, July, Aug | Fall: Sept, Oct, Nov)  So I decided to make my pages in different color variations for each quarter (Winter: Blue | Spring: Pink | Summer: Green | Fall:  Orange).  When the seasons change, I can then switch to a new seasonally colored page.
  • This also means the way my brain works, the winter quarter starts in December and that’s when I start my new planner for the year. A little weird, I know, but I like it that way. I’ve made a couple calendar formats to account for that too.
  • The weekly pages are not pre-dated.  You can write in the month and the dates as you wish.  Of course you are free to use any of the colors for whatever months you wish.
  • The pages can also be printed back-to-back.  I won’t give any lengthy instructions on that however because printers are all so different. I will leave it to each of you to experiment on your printers to figure out the best method for you.
  • And speaking of printers, they cooperate a little better if the margins aren’t too narrow on the outside of the page. Therefore you’ll see that several of these pages are made to be cut down the middle and punched on the outside edges where I left the wider margin.  This means those outside edges ultimately become your inside edges once they’re in your notebook.  It will all make perfect sense once you do it. 🙂
  • These pages work great in a disc bound system, however if you don’t have those supplies, they could also just be used in a small 3 ring binder, or they can be spiral bound for a small cost at an office supply store.

Front of Planner Pages & Year-at-a-Glance

Cover Page and 2017 Year-at-a-Glance (Quarterly Format)
Holiday List and 2017 Year-at-a-Glance

Print back-to-back, cut down the middle and punch inside edges.
For the front of my planner I made two Year-at-a-Glance calendars which are helpful to refer to when it’s time to write in the dates on the weekly pages.  Both of these yearly calendars are in formats that show the week beginning on Monday as that mirrors how my weekly pages are set up. There’s also a cover page and list of dates for upcoming U.S. holidays.

Monthly Calendars Option #1

2017 Monthly calendars to use as a group (Print back-to-back)

Print back-to-back, cut down the middle and punch inside edges.
These monthly calendars are intended to be put together in the notebook as a group. At first glance it looks like I just arranged the months in some random order but when they’re printed back to back, it works!  I print the odd pages, then remove page 7 (there’s nothing to print on the back of that one), rearrange the pages as needed for my printer, put them back in, and then print the even pages.

Monthly Calendars Option #2

2017 Monthly calendars to be used individually (NOT back-to-back)

Do not print back to back, cut down the middle and punch at the bottom of each month.
These monthly calendars are intended to be used individually (not as a group) because sometimes I like to insert a monthly calendar before the weekly pages for that month.

Lined Paper

Planner Page – Wide Lined
Can be printed back to back, cut down the middle, can punch on either side.
Sure, lined paper came with my Arc notebook, but those lines are spaced so close together.  Ugh, who has  the patience to write so tiny.  Not me! So here we have some wide lined paper . . . . for those of us who were never good at coloring inside the lines . . . or writing inside the lines. . . or following rules in general.

  1. I love these! Any chance you can make a 2018 set? Or some without the year? I just discovered them and there are only 24 days left in 2017!

  2. Great planner pages. Thanks for sharing. I like making my own but I hate dating the calendar pages so I will probably use yours. Thanks again.

  3. I absolutely love this simple planner!!! Just wish I would have found it 3-4 weeks ago. I’m keeping this site in hopes for a 2018 planner!! Thanks for sharing

  4. Thanks for sharing the printable planner. I have been wanting one from a long time. You have given color options too, it really has made my day. Thanks a ton.

  5. I loved it!!! 😀 😀 😀 I’m just so exited about it!
Thank you very much for sharing this. I just bought an arc system notebook this week, to make my own planner for next year and your printables fits just perfectly!!!
    XoXo

  6. how do i print these double sided?? I can’t seem to figure out how to do it in adobe, it keeps printing it as 2 separate sheets

    1. Gina – what I do is first print them one sided, then put those pages back in the printer and print on the other side. This has been easier for me than trying to figure out a 2-sided setting in Adobe or in my printer settings. It might take a few test pages for you to know which way the pages need to be facing when you put them back in for printing on the other side, but once you have that figured out, it’s a simple and easy way to get your two sided copies.

      1. Thank you so much for your help, this worked perfectly! And thank you so much for posting these free pages, they’re lovely and not too flashy/distracting, they’re exactly what I need 🙂

  7. I can’t thank you enough for this delightful set that will meet my needs perfectly as I juggle volunteer work for my community and cancer treatments, and family time. You just took a very large load from my shoulders. Bless you.

  8. Thanks for sharing your time and talents! Would you mind sharing your margin settings (when you’re creating your pages)? I’d love to create some of my own (and personalize) but I’m unclear what I should set my margins to so I can optimize the space on the page while not disturbing where the punch holes will go… Thanks for your help!

    1. I created the pages in Word and used the “narrow” margin option. This should do the trick for you and you might not even have to do any further margin adjusting after that. I hope that helps!
