Make Your Own Laundry Soap
This easy mixture uses Dawn dish soap (so there's no grating of bar soap), as well as some washing soda and borax. Mix those ingredients with a gallon of water and you've made your own money-saving laundry soap! (use the link in my bio to find complete instructions)

Sometime "semi-homemade" comes in handy during the busy holiday season too. This lotion mixture makes a nice DIY gift and is just a simple mixture of a bottle of baby lotion, a jar of Vitamin E cream, and a tube of Vaseline jelly cream (which is a very moisturizing combo). Just stir the three lotions together, put into cute jars and label, and your DIY gift is complete!

Looking for a new idea for a jar gift to give this Christmas? How about homemade play dough mix! When it's time to make the play dough, the recipient of the gift just has to heat the mix with 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of oil, and then add food coloring if they wish too. Did you know you can use your crockpot to make candles? Yes you can! I filled 4 oz mason jars with beeswax pellets and a scented wax cube. Then the jars are placed in the crockpot with boiling water added around them. Cover the crockpot and heat on high for about an hour until the wax is completely melted. Then remove the jars and add your wicks. Complete recipe is on the blog.

Need a fun centerpiece for a baby shower? 👶🏻 Try making a diaper cake! The foundation for my cake was just a large plate from the dollar store and a cardboard paper toweling tube. Then you roll up the diapers and arrange them around the tube in the middle. Decorate with ribbon and other baby items 🍼 and you've made your own diaper cake! Did you know you can extend the life of your strawberries 🍓 by giving them a quick soak in water with a bit of vinegar added? (this helps kill mold spores). I give the berries a quick rinse with water first, then I use 1/2 cup of vinegar with about 8 cups of water in my salad spinner and let them soak for 5 minutes. The colander insert in the salad spinner makes it simple to pull them back out when they're done soaking. There's no need to rinse them when you're done. Just set them on a towel to dry. They won't taste like vinegar and they'll last longer! More DIY produce washing ideas are new on the blog this week 👍

This is a super simple homemade cleaner to make (and it's my new favorite ❤️) . All it takes is 2 tsp of Sal Suds Cleaner in 2 cups of water. I've learned that even though a bottle of Sal Suds can cost about $10, when you only use a couple teaspoons per a batch of cleaner it's still frugal. 💲 A batch in a 16 oz spray bottle will only cost you about 20 cents and you can use it all over the house, even on glass!

Homemade doesn't have to be hard. In fact many of my favorite homemade recipes use only 2 ingredients! I affectionately call these my "DIY For Dummies" recipes, but of course we aren't really dummies. We're just looking for the most efficient way to get the job done. 👍

This quick homemade soft scrub uses Murphys Oil Soap mixed with baking soda and is great for shining stainless steel sinks. It's one of my new favorites!

Quarantine Cooking: Used up a lingering jar of cashew butter to make some healthy energy snack bites. Had exactly the 1/2 cup I needed left in the jar, and had all the other ingredients in the house too! 😋

Recipe:
1/2 cup Nut Butter (peanut, cashew, etc)
1/3 cup Honey
1 tsp Vanilla
1 cup Quick Oats
1/3 cup Ground Flax
1/3 cup Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
1/3 cup Mini Chocolate Chips

Mix all ingredients and roll into balls.
