Easy Fix For Scuff Marks on White Soles
Do you love a good thrift store bargain? I certainly do! But sometimes my bargain discoveries still need a little cleaning and fixing up. And even though I don’t often buy shoes second hand, I recently came upon a used pair of Skechers GoWalk tennis shoes that fit me perfectly and were super comfortable – BUT – had a lot of dirty marks that needed cleaning up. Here’s the super quick remedy I used to remove those scuff marks from the white soles.
Can Those Dirty Scuff Marks Be Removed?
So yes, I couldn’t resist these bargain Skechers GoWalk shoes that were only $10. Normally a pair of new Skechers shoes like these would cost closer to $60. Plus Bob has told me how comfortable his Skechers are, and when I tried these on, they were indeed very soft and comfortable, were exactly my size, and I was sure they would make a very nice walking shoe. All was good so far except the white soles were kind of dirty and scuffed up. Bummer.
I decided not to let that stop me. Instead I went to the dollar store and and got my secret weapon for cleaning all sorts of things. Magic Erasers!
I’ve used Magic Erasers in many places around my home, but I had never tried them on shoes. It turns out Magic Erasers work great for cleaning up shoes too!
All you need to do is get the Magic Eraser wet with a little water and then start scrubbing. My experience was that it didn’t take much effort at all. In just a few minutes my second-hand Skechers looked soooo much better.
So if you have some scuffed up tennis shoes that are in need of a clean-up, perhaps a Magic Eraser can come to the rescue for you as well. It’s certainly worth a try and you’ll definitely save money by either prolonging the life of your current shoes or maybe fixing up a great bargain like I did.
I hope this tip can save the day for you too!

Thanks, Bev. You’ve come to the rescue again! I just bought a second-hand pair of Converse High-Tops at a thrift store and they are scuffed like yours. I’m so glad there is a good way to safely clean them up.
A great bargain fashion find – I’ve always wanted some Converse High-tops! I think you’ll be able to get them looking great again too with a Magic Eraser 🙂
Great easy solution for cleaning up shoes! I like to clean our shoes periodically and it is good to know how well this works on the soles.
Yes, a magic eraser can get the soles of shoes looking very nice again!
