Measuring Conversion Chart

|

The “Make Your Own” lifestyle is often about being resourceful. And as you learn to be more resourceful, you get more comfortable with improvising and adapting so you can use what you have. Of course not every improvised creation is a success (which is why I thought this poem was funny), but most of the time I think it’s worth giving resourceful ideas a try.

Improvising and adapting however, especially when it comes to recipes, can mean we have to convert measurements and do math. Most of the time this isn’t too hard for me and I previously shared how I use parts to adjust recipes. BUT, I’ve had a hard time remembering what some of the conversions are for common recipe measurements. You would not believe how many times I’ve Googled “how many tablespoons are in 1/4 cup?” Way too many times!

So this week I finally did something I should have done a long time ago. I made myself a little measurement conversion chart to keep in my recipe box. A cheat sheet that was long overdue! And once it was made, I thought perhaps others would find it useful and decided I would share it here today.

I’ve got a couple of options for you.  First, if you’re old school like me and you still like to be able to print things and hold them in your hands or put them in a recipe box, I have a pdf printable available.  It has two sizes of a little conversion chart – a 4×6 size and a 3×5 size. This allows you to cut out the size chart you want and paste it onto an index card of the size you prefer – OR – you could also print it directly onto card stock and cut it out.  I glued my chart to an index card using  Zip Dry glue, my new favorite glue to use on paper. You could also just cut out one of the charts and tack it up somewhere where you would find it handy such as inside a cupboard door or on the fridge.

The second option is the image below that you can pin to Pinterest because let’s face it – it’s a digital world! Lots of people just want to jump on the internet rather than keep a paper copy around.

I hope one of these options will be helpful for you too, and will keep you inspired and empowered to Make Your Own!
