Easy Punch Recipe for a Morning Brunch Shower

Today’s recipe might not exactly fall into the “make your own” category like many of the other recipes I’ve written about here, but it does have a couple important qualities that I look for in a recipe that make it worth sharing with others.  It’s fast and simple with good taste too.

I recently had to make a large batch of punch for a baby shower.  It was a morning brunch baby shower too so I didn’t want any of those recipes that have sherbet floating around in them that seem to be continually popular.  What I really wanted was orange juice, but orange juice that was jazzed up a little bit.

I know the usual way of jazzing up your morning orange juice is to make a mimosa, a drink combo of orange juice and champagne.  But this wasn’t really a champagne kind of crowd I was serving – AND – I was hosting the baby shower event at a church and it just kind of felt inappropriate to be trundling into church at 8:30 in the morning with my bottles of champagne tucked under my arm.

Instead I used an easy mixture of orange juice, white grape juice, and 7-up and was VERY happy with the results.  The white grape juice toned down the bite of the orange juice and the 7-up gave it a little boost of sparkle and fizz.  It also fit nicely into my beverage dispenser (like this Glass Drink Dispenser ).

I decided to use the LIGHT white grape juice simply because I liked the lighter color of it and thought it would look better in my punch.  This recipe would probably work fine too with regular white grape juice.  I also used the No Pulp orange juice which I think is the best choice in this recipe.

The recipe includes the current size of the ingredients I bought, but manufacturers are often changing the size of their products so feel free to improvise if needed. This punch mixture will make about 150 ounces of punch. You will get 25, 6 oz cups of punch from this amount.

It’s also pretty to slice up an orange and float the slices around in the punch to add a little decoration to the mixture.

And when you’re cleaning up . . . don’t throw out those lovely orange slices that were floating in your punch.  They will be some of the tastiest orange slices you’ve ever eaten.  ðŸ™‚
