Use your pantry spices to make this single-recipe size taco seasoning blend to replace a store-bought taco seasoning packet.

Ingredients:
2teaspoonschili powder
1teaspooncumin
½teaspoonpaprika
½teaspoondried oregano
½teaspoongarlic salt
½teaspoononion powder
¼teaspooncayenne pepper
½teaspooncorn starch (see notes)
To make taco meat:
1poundground beef
¾cupwater
Instructions:
Combine the spices and the cornstarch in a small bowl.
To use the mixture to make taco meat: Brown the ground beef and drain any excess grease. Stir in the spices and the water. Heat until the liquid is bubbling and then cook and stir for a few minutes while the mixture thickens.
Notes:
The corn starch is not absolutely necessary but it does help with thickening. If I don't use the corn starch, I reduce the water to about a 1/2 cup.
