Ingredients:
1cupInstant Brown Rice
1/3cupGolden Raisins
1/3cupChopped Walnuts(or cashews)
Spice Blend:
1/2 tspSalt
1/4tspPepper
1/2tspCurry Powder
1/4tspTurmeric
1/8tspAllspice
1TblMinced Onion
Instructions:
Mix together the spice blend.
Layer the ingredients in a pint size jar as follows: The spice blend, 1/3 cup rice, the raisins, 1/3 cup rice, the nuts, and then the final 1/3 cup of rice.
Add a tag or label with the following instructions: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil in a suacepan. Add the contents of the jar and return pan to a boil. Then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes or until water is absorbed and rice is tender.
Notes:
Note: If you do not have allspice for the spice blend, a little bit of cinnamon and/or nutmeg can be substituted instead.
