Quick and Easy Beer Bread

Perhaps you’ve made the popular Beer Bread from the Tastefully Simple brand of quick mixes. It’s yummy stuff but at $5 a mix it’s pricey too. Why not save a little money and make your own beer bread? All you need are three ingredients – self rising flour, sugar, and a can of beer. That’s just as simple as the premade mix!

If you don’t have self rising flour in the house, you can make your own self rising flour using the recipe from my previous post. (click here to read: Make Your Own Self Rising Flour ).

Quick and Easy Beer Bread

I gave this recipe a try this weekend and it had good taste but I will admit it was not the most beautiful loaf of bread I have ever made – and that’s probably not the recipe’s fault. I chose to eat some of my bread the same way they serve it at the Tastefully Simple parties. I pulled it into smaller pieces and ate some with spread cheese, and some dipped into a veggie dip.

This recipe is said to work just as well with a 12 oz can of 7-up, gingerale, or any carbonated beverage. Just remember that it’s very important to use the self rising flour so that the recipe turns out correctly.

Quick and Easy Beer Bread Recipe

Ingredients:
3 cups self rising flour
3 tablespoons white sugar
1- 12 oz can of beer

Mix the flour and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Add the 12 oz can of beer and stir to mix. The dough will be sticky.

Pour the dough into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Cool and remove from loaf pan.

This recipe is also on the All Recipes Website with lots of helpful comments from other folks who have tried this recipe. Some added a little more sugar, some added different herbs and spices or cheese, and some said it was helpful to let the dough sit in the pan for a half an hour or so before baking. Different beers will also give the bread different flavors.
