A few weeks back I posted about How To Make Infused Vodka. I used pineapple to infuse my vodka and hope to try a few more new flavors in the months ahead. BUT – never did it occur to me to infuse alcohol with a branch from a Christmas tree.
At the Food.com website there’s a recipe for a Douglas Fir Sparkletini which includes instructions for making Douglas Fir infused gin. The process is the same as other infused alcohol. You take a sprig from a Douglas Fir tree, rinse it off, put it in a bottle of gin and let it set for 24 hours. Viola! Christmas Tree infused booze! They then mix it with white cranberry juice, lemon juice, simple syrup (which is a sugar water mixture), and a splash of champagne to create their Sparkletini.
If only I had a Douglas Fir in my living room . . . . I would certainly give this a try. That’s what I get for plunking my fake tree in the corner.
