Homemade Brownies: You Don’t Need A Mix!

Soft chewy brownies and a cold glass of milk make a classic snack that never goes out of style. With this easy homemade brownie recipe you can quickly stir together a batch with ingredients you probably already have in the pantry.

So far, this is my favorite from scratch brownie recipe. A lot of the brownie recipes I tried with cocoa powder and oil turned out too dense and soggy for my taste. This recipe has the same texture as the store bought mixes that most folks are used to, without having to depend on the mix.

Brownie mixes are items that go on sale frequently and sometimes with coupons you can get them for just pennies. But it’s nice to have a recipe like this around too for when you need to stir something together quickly with what you have on hand.

This recipe begins by melting some chocolate chips and butter in the microwave for a minute. Once you have this melty chocolate mixture, you can stir in the dry ingredients as well as a couple eggs and some vanilla. The batter goes into a greased 8×8 pan and bakes at 350 for 25 minutes. It’s really almost as fast as a mix!

Here’s the complete recipe:

  2. These were the best, by far, brownies I’ve ever made!! And I was using the cheap chocolate chips! I added some walnuts. Wonderful tasty, chewy and easy to make.

    1. These are nice chewy brownies! I think the chocolate chips keep these brownies very moist and provide more flavor than using just cocoa powder.
