Make Your Own Shamrock Shake
What the heck happened to my Shamrock Shake??
Last I knew they were wonderful thick minty milk shakes that looked something like this . . .
When I decided to treat myself to a Shamrock Shake yesterday for old times sake, I was instead handed this neon green weirdo thing . . .
What a disappointment! And it’s not easy to drink in the car either. Poo!
The picture McDonald’s publishes like the one above isn’t really how well blended the green color looks in real life. No, in real life the top half of your shake is totally neon green (and way too minty) and the bottom half of your shake is almost white. I found myself stirring and fiddling with it and just making a mess in general.
My poor cherry just sunk to the bottom too. Was I supposed to pick it out of there with my fingers? Drink it with my straw? Who knows.
Maybe I should share my feelings with the good folks at McDonald’s.
Dear McDonald’s:
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It has come to my attention that you have blatantly ignored this wisdom and have instead done atrocious things to the beloved Shamrock Shake. These adjustments were neither warranted nor were they an improvement. I would suggest that you rectify the situation forthwith and that when St. Patrick’s day rolls around next year that you will have come to your senses and will return to making a satisfactory product that is easy and pleasing to consume.
Until such time occurs, I will be making my own Shamrock Shakes.
Sincerely,
Bev

And that’s exactly what I did today. I made my own old school Shamrock Shake and it was *delicious*
Homemade Shamrock Shake
You Will Need:
-
2 Cups Vanilla Ice Cream
-
1 Cup Milk
-
1/4 Teaspoon Mint Extract
-
3 Drops of Green Food Coloring
Place the ice cream, milk, and mint extract in a blender and combine until smooth.  Then add the food coloring and stir in.
If you don’t have a blender, you can just use the mash and smoosh method like we do when we make our homemade Wendy’s Frostys.
It’s all good.
