Snickers Candy Bar Cookies

I love these cookies. And judging by the amount of times I get asked for this recipe, I would say lots of other people love them too.

What makes these cookies so tasty and special? There’s a secret ingredient hidden inside. A miniature Snickers candy bar! The little candy bars melt inside the cookies as they bake, creating a center filled with chocolate caramel goodness.

I tend to save this recipe for special occasions and it’s definitely a favorite of mine around the Christmas holidays. They’re a wonderful addition to any festive plate of holiday treats.

How To Make Snickers Cookies

Even though I consider these cookies one of my “fancier” cookie recipes, they’re still quite simple to make. In fact, you might spend the most effort unwrapping the little Snickers bars!

As with most cookie recipes, you cream together the butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla, and in this recipe a little peanut butter is added too.  Then the dry ingredients are mixed in and your dough is ready.

Making snickers cookies

Once you have the cookie dough made, you need to get the mini Snickers inside each cookie. To do this, flatten about a tablespoon of the dough and place a candy bar on top. Then gently wrap the dough around the cookie until the candy bar is completely covered. You want enough dough to completely cover the candy bar, but not too thickly.

Then the little candy bar dough balls can be placed on a cookie sheet and baked for 10 to 12 minutes.

Adding glaze to Snickers candy bar cookies

After the cookies have baked and cooled, I add a little bit of chocolate glaze too. The glaze is a simple mixture of powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and milk. I just use a spoon to drizzle some of the glaze over each cookie.

A Delicious Cookie for Exchanges or Gifts

As mentioned above, this cookie is always a winner if you need something a little special for a cookie exchange or to give as a homemade food gift. I’ve been making these for several years and I’ve learned that everyone enjoys these cookies!

  • Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool.
  • To make the chocolate glaze, mix together the powdered sugar and the cocoa powder. Add in a tablespoon of milk and stir to make the glaze, adding additional small amounts of milk if needed to make the glaze a drizzling consistency.
  • Place the cooled cookies onto waxed paper and drizzle a bit of the chocolate glaze on each cookie. The glaze will harden as the cookies sit.

Notes:

You will need about 30 mini Snickers bars for this recipe. The size of the bags available can change as the years go along, however my most recently purchased bag was a 9.7 oz size which contained 33 candy bars.
