A few weeks ago I read with interest this article on the Yahoo home page about how to make a homemade version of a Wendy’s Frosty.  I read with even more interest all the snarky comments that followed.  You see, the “recipe” for the homemade Wendy’s Frosty was really a recipe for homemade ice cream that required the use of an ice cream maker.  Most of the comments went something like this . . .

“Too much work!”

“I don’t have an ice cream maker!”

“Step one – get in the car and go to Wendy’s!”

“They only cost 99 cents.  Just buy one!”

“By the time I make this I won’t even want one anymore!”

Boo! Hiss!  Grumble, Grumble . . . .

They were not very friendly comments.

BUT I was rather inclined to agree.  Even if the recipe created a tasty Wendy’s Frosty clone, it sounded like it took too much time and too much work – plus you had to own an ice cream maker.   How about a homemade Wendy’s Frosty recipe for the rest of us?

So I give you now my  DIY Wendy’s Frosty for lazy folks. Or impatient folks.  Or just smart folks who want a quicker way.

Hubby and I like to make this little concoction for an evening snack while we watch TV and it really does taste  like a Wendy’s Frosty.  We don’t use a blender or anything either.  *Lazy*  It’s the end of the day and we’re watching TV, doggone it.

All we do is mix together vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream in a bowl with a little splash of milk.  We sit there with our bowls and spoons, stirring and mashing, mashing and stirring, until we finally have a nice smooth mixture that’s creamy, yummy, and very Frostyish.  And that’s all there is to it!

Sure, you could use a blender, or Magic Bullet, or some other method if you choose to, but just good old stirring and mixing works fine too.  In fact, it keeps the consistency a little bit thicker – like a real Frosty!  And because it’s thicker, we usually just eat the mixture with a spoon even though I took a picture with a straw.

DIY WENDY’S FROSTY

You Will Need:

  • Vanilla Ice Cream

  • Chocolate Ice Cream

  • Splash of Milk

1.  Place a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a scoop of chocolate ice cream in a bowl.  You can do equal amounts of both flavors, although I sometimes prefer to use a little bit more vanilla than chocolate (about a 60/40 ratio).  Put a little splash of milk in the bowl too.

2.  Using a spoon, stir, mash, and mix the two flavors together until you reach a smooth consistency.  A blender can also be used if you prefer.

3.  Plop down on the couch and enjoy your fast and easy version of a Wendy’s Frosty!
