I think you’ll enjoy this very simple recipe for a homemade sweet and sour sauce that doesn’t require any cooking or chopping. I’ve seen other homemade sweet and sour sauce recipes that are pineapple based and require boiling of pineapple juice or chopping of pineapple. This recipe uses the much more simple ingredient of apricot preserves that takes a lot of hassle out of the process.
I purchase the 18 oz jar of apricot preserves for $1.59 at Aldi so that helps make this a frugal recipe for me too. The other ingredients are ketchup and soy sauce which I always keep on hand.
HOMEMADE SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE
(Print This Recipe)
3 Tablespoons Apricot Preserves
3 Tablespoons Ketchup
1 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
Stir all the ingredients together in a small bowl . . . . and that’s it!
This makes enough for a nice little batch of dipping sauce with a meal of something like chicken tenders. It’s also easy to double or triple the recipe if you need a larger batch to use in a recipe. Be sure to store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
