December is here and it’s usually a busy month for most of us. So this month’s Favorite Finds include a couple of quick homemade crafts for the holidays that are very simple and inexpensive (my favorite things!). There’s also a link to some reading on what it’s like to use homemade shampoo.
This month, why not make your own . . . .
Homemade Shampoo
Here’s an interesting post from an off-the-grid modern homesteader who has been making her own shampoo. I’ve been hearing more and more that our modern shampoos are stripping our hair of its natural oils. I’ve dropped down to using shampoo only three days a week and have been pleasantly surprised at how well that’s worked out. The next step will be to try something homemade like this.
Sweater Ball Ornament
Need a way to turn some old Christmas ornaments into something fresh and new? This idea wraps a piece cut from an old sweater around an ornament ball. You tie it up with a ribbon, add a few buttons for decoration and Viola! Cute new ornaments!
You can make yourself a festive and fluffy wreath simply by gluing coffee filters onto a wreath base. What I liked about this idea is that by adding different ribbons, you could use the wreath for different seasons too. If you already have a wreath at home that you want to recycle, this could be a very inexpensive craft. All you would need is a couple packages of coffee filters which you could probably pick up at the dollar store.

I'm Bev and I love to share ideas for living a more creative and resourceful lifestyle with homemade alternatives we can make for ourselves.

I like the sweater balls, that's super easy with all the silly balls we have around here. Now off to find a stained sweater worth cutting up.
Bev, Thank you for putting a link to my blog for the homemade shampoo! The nice thing I have found about making my own is that I can add whatever I want or need to it.
Bev, maybe you like to check out my little series about unusual uses for certain household and pantry items. http://paulabowser.blogspot.com/search/label/Hearth%20and%20HomeThanks for the great post on homemade laundry soap. Will grab your button too!Paula
