Make Your Own Frozen Garlic Texas Toast
If you find it handy to have one of those boxes of frozen garlic texas toast in the freezer, here’s an idea for making your own homemade version that can cut your cost by more than half.
I did cheat a little bit and used a purchased loaf of texas toast bread for this recipe. I then created a spread to put on the slices, and froze and packaged them.
DIY Frozen Garlic Texas Toast Recipe
Ingredients:
6 Slices from a loaf of Texas Toast bread
1/3 cup Soft Margarine Spread
1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Dried Parsley
In a small mixing bowl, combine the margarine spread, parmesan cheese, garlic powder and dried parsley. Stir until well combined. Put some of the spread on each slice of bread. Lay the buttered slices of bread on a cookie sheet or other flat pan in a single layer, and put in the freezer until frozen. Once the slices are frozen, you can stack them and package them in ziploc freezer bags for future use.
To cook your frozen texas toast: Lay the toast in a single layer on cookie sheet. Heat in a 425 degree oven for about 5 minutes.
You can also double or triple the recipe to make more slices at a time.
Looks so yummy, can't wait to try it. I used wet minced garlic, so I may throw in a tsp or so of the liquid from the jar.
